A recent study from the UK shows that drivers want harsher penalties for those found guilty of distracted driving. The current punishment is £100 (or around $180 Canadian) and 3 penalty points. Many of those who participated in the study believe that increased fines and punishment won’t actually help the problem. CLICK HERE for more details.
Meanwhile in Ontario, the distracted driving punishment closer to $500 with 3 demerit points. Despite Ontario’s penalties being among the highest in Canada, drivers with their phones, doing makeup in the mirror, reading a book or other distractions are a daily occurrence.
