Well, a bet is a bet. Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi paid his debt in full to Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and the Nation’s Capital, on the results of last Sunday’s Grey Cup Championship Game, which the RedBlacks won 39-33. Nenshi wore and Ottawa RedBlacks jersey to city council, recited a poem about the Stampeders loss and made a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.
Calgary’s mayor also had to do similar service to Quebec City’s mayor, Regis Labeaume, as the Univercity of Calgary’s Dinos lost to the Laval Rouge et Or in last Saturday’s Vanier Cup University football championship. Nenshi had to wear a Laval jersey and recite the peoem ‘Soir D’hiver’ in English and French in front of city council.
It was tough weekend for the mayor and probably just as tough on Monday. But again, a bet is a bet.
