Using the Alchema app, home-brewers can create their own concoctions or choose from “hundreds of recipes,” including strawberry pomegranate, pumpkin and peach ginger hard ciders. Depending on the type of fruit and recipe used, you’ll be sipping your own home-brewed cider in between one to weeks. Each batch produces up to 2.4 litres, which is approximately three bottles of wine.
Oscar Chang, Alchema CEO, told industry publication The Drinks Business: “What better way to reduce food waste at home then by turning leftover fruit into delicious hard cider or wine? The Alchema home cider making system is a great alternative to throwing away unused fruit.”
The product launched on Kickstarter last summer, and is currently available for pre-order in Canada, the U.S., and Taiwan for approximately CAD$650. The company says that the product is estimated to ship in fall 2017.
