There’s lots to do around Cornwall and the Counties, but the Historic SDG Jail is a definite priority!
If you’ve never been, it’s a must.
If you have been, you’ll want to go back!
Located on Water Street across from Lamoureux Park, the jail opened back in 1833 and closed in 2002 – so as you can imagine, it’s got A LOT of stories to tell, and some will blow your mind that all of this happened right here in our own city.
Until August 19th you can check out their enhanced tours every Saturday at 10am, 11am, and 12pm, and experience the full tour in addition to reenactments of the Great Fenian Escape.
Here’s a look at some of what you’ll see on the tour – but there’s so much more that you’ll want to see for yourself.
Plus….if you’re a fan of ghosts….you never know what might happen.
Seeing how Water Street used to be a canal – the Jail was right on the water!
Fun Fact: Some Hell’s Angels even stayed in this jail!
The building is also host to this gorgeous courtroom!
For more stories and to see more – you’ll have to visit for yourself!
