Procter & Gamble, the company that owns the Tide brand is fighting back against the ‘Tide Pod Challenge’.
If you haven’t heard, there is current a trend online involving teenagers eating laundry detergent (Tide Pods or others in similar form) and posting the videos online. (I know! I’m still shaking my head as I type this.)
Several teenagers have been hospitalized due to external and internal chemical burns. In the first 15 days of 2018, there have been a reported 39 cases of teenagers purposely misusing pods, according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Many grocery stores in the U.S. have put their laundry detergents behind safety glass, so teenagers don’t purchase the pods for the challenge.
Tide has hired the services of New England Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski to get spread the message of not doing the challenge. (See video in tweet below.) YouTube is also fighting back by flagging and removing all Tide Pod Challenge videos from their website.
Look, online fads and trends come and go. But this shouldn’t even be a fad. PLEASE, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING THIS!!! THANK YOU!!!
